Firearm Registration

Gun Permits – Michigan Law Update

Starting February 13, 2024, Michigan law requires anyone without a valid CPL, MCOLES number, or FFL number to obtain a License to Purchase (LTP) before buying a pistol. No exceptions apply.

An LTP is valid for 30 days and must be submitted within 10 days of acquiring the firearm. The seller must sign the LTP and keep a copy. The seller must also return the Licensing Authority Copy to the issuing department.

Office Hours

Our office is open Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, excluding holidays.

You need a valid Michigan Driver’s License or State ID with your current address to apply. Notary services are available for $10. Please bring exact cash.
