Welcome to the office of the Van Buren County Prosecuting Attorney, led by Susan Zuiderveen since January 1, 2021. Our team is dedicated to serving the People of the State of Michigan by prosecuting state law violations in Van Buren County.

Our Work

We collaborate with the Sheriff’s Department, State Police, local police, and other agencies to enforce criminal laws and handle civil infractions. Our cases range from serious crimes like homicides to minor offenses such as underage possession of alcohol or tobacco. We also address civil infractions, including speeding and other traffic violations.

Victim Rights

Our office has two advocates who work diligently to provide assistance, advocacy, and information to crime victims in Van Buren County. We ensure that victim’s voices are heard during the criminal court process. We cover both offices in our county.

Juvenile and Child Protection

Our office is committed to prosecuting juvenile delinquency cases and supporting child protection efforts initiated by Children’s Protective Services. We also represent individuals in mental health commitment hearings and assist in license restoration hearings in Circuit Court.

Community Involvement

We actively participate in the Van Buren County Drug Treatment Court and work on asset forfeiture related to illegal drug activities.
