The Van Buren County Buildings and Grounds Department manages a budget of $1.4 million to maintain 14 county buildings, covering about 310,000 square feet. This includes equipment, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, electrical systems, and general upkeep.
The budget also supports the care of 325,000 square feet of landscaped lawns, which require regular mowing, trimming, and weeding. In winter, we maintain 1,500 feet of sidewalks by cleaning and de-icing them.
Our parking lots cover 480,000 square feet and need regular sealing, top coating, and lining.
Our team includes six full-time and four part-time staff. We handle most HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building tasks internally. Three buildings have computerized HVAC systems managed in-house. Cleaning is done by part-time custodians and private services. The Sheriff’s Alternative Work Program helps with lawn care.
We prioritize energy awareness and continuously upgrade our systems to reduce consumption and modernize technology.
Snow Removal Bids FY25-26
The Van Buren County Board of Commissioners invites contractors to bid on seasonal snow removal services for County facilities located in Paw Paw, Hartford, and South Haven. Services include plowing, snow and ice removal, and salting of designated parking lots, sidewalks, and drives for the 2025–2026 snow season (October 1, 2025 – April 1, 2026).
Submit sealed bids by 4:00 PM, September 16, 2025 to the County Clerk’s Office at 212 E. Paw Paw St., Suite 101, Paw Paw, MI 49079. Bids will be opened on September 17, 2025 at 9:00 AM in the Board of Commissioners Room, 2nd Floor, 219 E. Paw Paw St., Paw Paw, MI 49079. Final approval will take place on September 23, 2025 at 1:00 PM by the Board of Commissioners.

Window Replacement Contractor Bids FY24-25
We invite contractors to bid on replacing 56 exterior windows at the Van Buren County Administration Building, 219 Paw Paw Street, Paw Paw, MI.

Van Buren County DHS Reroof Project FY24-25
We are seeking bids for the DHS Reroof Project, which includes installing a new 80 mil PVC roofing system or asphalt shingles, complying with all building codes.
