Parcel Remapping Dashboard

Van Buren County is currently engaged in a multi-year effort to modernize our property records by redrawing over 50,000 parcels with high-precision accuracy. Our legacy digital maps, originally converted from hand-drawn paper records in the 1990s, can contain boundary discrepancies of up to 100 feet. By meticulously analyzing historical legal descriptions and aligning them with modern GPS section corners and aerial imagery, our Digital Information Department is bringing these boundaries within a tolerance of +/- 3 feet. This transition from “paper-era” data to cutting-edge GIS technology ensures equitable taxation, reduces property disputes, and provides a reliable foundation for the county’s emergency services and future economic growth.
