NATURE OF INCIDENT: Narcotics Division Search Warrant Execution
COMPLAINT NUMBER: 26003402
CHARGES SOUGHT:
- Maintaining a drug house
- Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine
- Possession of Oxycodone
- Possession of Suboxone
- Felon in possession of firearm(s)
- Possession of a short-barrel shotgun
- Felon in possession of ammunition
- Two counts of unlicensed dogs
DATE TIME: 04/09/2026 at approximately 0840 hours
LOCATION: 66000 block of 62nd Street, Hartford Township
SUSPECT INFORMATION: 45-year-old male from the Hartford area
NARRATIVE:
Sheriff Daniel E. Abbott reports that detectives with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and SWAT Team executed a search warrant in the 66000 block of 62nd Street in Hartford Township on April 9, 2026, at approximately 0840 hours. Two subjects were inside of the residence at the time of the search warrant being executed. The male was lodged at the Van Buren County Jail and the female was release at the conclusion of the investigation.
During the execution of the search warrant, detectives located multiple controlled substances, digital scales, packaging materials, and several firearms. The majority of the narcotics were concealed within a hidden compartment inside a bedroom wall. Detectives utilized a reciprocating saw to access the compartment and recovered approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine.
Detectives were unable to locate serial numbers on the recovered firearms at the scene. The firearms will be submitted to the Michigan State Police Crime Laboratory for further analysis, including potential serial number restoration. Deputies from Van Buren County Animal Control responded to assist with multiple dogs at the residence. During their investigation, it was determined the dogs were unlicensed. Animal Control also noted they have received numerous prior complaints regarding these dogs running at large.
