Mike Fossitt Promoted to Veterans Services Director!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce the promotion of Michael Fossitt to our new Veterans Services Director! After serving our community with excellence as a Veterans Service Officer, Mike is stepping into this leadership role to continue his lifelong mission of advocacy and service.

A Career Built on Dedication

Mike’s impressive journey began in 2008 as a Fire Support Specialist. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion 32nd Field Artillery β€œProud Americans” as a Combat Observation Lasing Team (COLT) member. During his 2008-2009 deployment to Balad, Iraq, he served as a Fire Support Team (FIST) element and later moved to the 1st Battalion 28th Infantry β€œBlack Lions” to serve as the Attack Company 1st platoon FIST element.

His military education is extensive, including Advanced First Aid, Army Combatives Program I & II, Long range marksmanship, Joint Fires Observer Course, and the Bradley Fires Command Course. Mike’s highly decorated service earned him several honors:

  • Army Commendation Medal (with two oak leaf clusters)
  • Iraq Campaign Medal and Iraqi Campaign Ribbon
  • Global War on Terrorism Medal
  • Overseas Campaign Ribbon
  • Army Good Conduct Medal
  • Army Achievement Medal

Expertise in Action

Before joining our team, Mike spent years strengthening Michigan’s infrastructure. From 2018 to 2022, he was a Central Office Technician at Hiawatha Telephone Company, where he was responsible for statewide Michigan 911 fiber. He then moved to Barry County Telephone Company from 2022 to 2025 as a Switch Central Office Technician leading major infrastructure projects. This unique blend of technical leadership and frontline experience makes him a powerhouse for our local veterans.

At Home in Southwest Michigan

A true local, Mike graduated from Paw Paw High School in 2006 and holds an Associate of Applied Science from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. While he is a native of Paw Paw, he currently lives in Kalamazoo with his wife, Claire, and their 10-year-old son, Trenton.

We are so lucky to have Mike leading the way for our veteran community. Please join us in celebrating this well-deserved promotion!
