NATURE OF INCIDENT: Fatal House Fire
LOCATION: 38000 Block of 64th Avenue, Paw Paw Township
VICTIM: Name withheld (will be released later, pending positive identification)
INFORMATION:
Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel Abbott reports that on January 8, 2026, at approximately 7:30 pm, Deputies, along with the Paw Paw Fire Department were dispatched to an active structure fire in the 38000 block of 64th Avenue in Paw Paw Township.
While working to suppress the fire, a single victim was located deceased within the residence. The victim is believed to be the sole resident of the home.
This incident and the cause of the fire, remains under investigation in conjunction with the Michigan State Police Fire Marshall.
