In Memoriam: Chairman Randall “Randy” Peat

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Commissioner Randall (Randy) Peat on Monday morning. Randy faithfully served Van Buren County since 2019, representing District 5, which includes Waverly and Paw Paw Townships, the Village of Paw Paw, and part of Antwerp Township. He served as Chair for the last several years.

Beyond his role as Commissioner, Randy was a dedicated leader in our community. He served as Chairman of both the Van Buren County 911 Advisory Board and the Van Buren Economic Development Corporation and was a member of the Kinexus Board of Directors, Van Buren Cass Health Department, Van Buren Veteran Services Committee, Market One Board and the Paw Paw Township Planning Commission. His commitment to public service and economic growth has left a lasting impact on Van Buren County.

A decorated Vietnam veteran, Randy returned to his hometown of Paw Paw in 1969 and went on to co-found Manatron, Inc., a successful technology company that provided software solutions to governments across the country. He retired in 2008 but continued to serve his community in numerous capacities.

Randy lived on his family farm in Paw Paw Township with his wife, Madelynn, where they enjoyed time with their four children, their spouses, and eight grandchildren. His leadership, vision, and dedication will be deeply missed. His obituary can be found here.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Randy’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
