  • Uniform Response handled an MDOP/Throwing Rocks at a Moving Vehicle Incident in Almena Township/Antwerp Township. The victim had a rock threw into their driver’s side window by a passing vehicle on purpose. The victim described the suspect vehicle as a new Nissan sedan, possibly silver or grey in color. The victim turned around and followed the vehicle to an intersection in which the passenger threw another rock at the vehicle. The initial incident took place on Vankal and 44th ave. The second incident took place on Vankal and Red Arrow Hwy. Troopers took a similar call the next evening in Antwerp Township on Red Arrow Hwy near 30th st. That victim was unable to ID the vehicle as it went by with the headlights on. Anyone with any information on these are asked to call our office. Our incident took place Sunday evening at approximately 10pm. If you have video from a ring camera, surveillance system, etc., we also ask you to contact our office as well.
  • Uniform Response handled a Lost and Found Property incident in Geneva Township. The caller advised a ladder, router equipment, and a very expensive wire locater device fell out of someone’s vehicle and was next to the roadway. Deputies recovered the items and stored them for safe keeping until the owners could be located. Deputies contacted local businesses that may have lost them, but it turned out it wasn’t theirs. Two days after the property was recovered, the owners contacted our office to inquire about what was recovered. The owners did identify the property and after doing so, it was given back to them.  Thank you to the citizen who called this in so the property could be recovered and given back to the rightful owner.
  • Congratulations to Sgt Phil Scuiletti, Deputy Kirk Graham, Deputy Jeff Gilbert, and Deputy Zach Hathaway on their completion of New Honor Guard School. I had no doubt they would be a great addition to our team, with that said, they had the highest score for color guard presentation. With that, they were selected to do color guard duty for a funeral procession that Friday. I’ll say it once again, I am the most blessed Sheriff in the State of Michigan getting to work with so many professionals at this office and this is just another example of what I’m talking about. I would also like to thank our community for the continued support you give our office.
  • Detective Chris Orr successfully completed the IACIS (International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists) Certified Mobile Device Examiner (ICMDE) process. Less than 600 people in the world have this certification. Congratulations Detective Orr on this accomplishment.
  • Uniform Response made a Traffic Stop in Columbia Township. The passenger was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of the Lansing Tether Unit. Deputies searched the vehicle and located meth which was the drivers. Both were lodged.
  • Uniform Response handled a Larceny in Almena Township. The victim had their 2025 US Cargo enclosed trailer stolen which was full of tools and construction items. The trailer has a license plate of F119065. The trailer is black in color, has chrome trim, and a US Cargo sticker on it. Anyone with any information on this is asked to call our office.
  • Uniform Response handled a Larceny from the Dollar General in Geneva Township. The two unknown black females did a string of larcenies all from Dollar General Stores which were located in Covert Township, Genena Township, and Pullman. They stole several hundred dollars’ worth of items from all the stores. The one our office handled in Geneva was estimated to be at $350-$500. They were driving a silver Chevrolet Malibu with tinted out windows and no license plate. Our office along with other law enforcement agencies are actively working these shoplifting larcenies. We are confident that with the video and other avenues, we’ll be able to ID the suspects. With that, we are still asking the public if you have any information on these individuals or case, please contact our office.
  • An Update on the Juvenile from last week’s weekly news updates. Deputies did locate the juvenile and ran him down after a foot chase. He was linked prior to the break-in and stolen bike but was found also to be the suspect that stole a vehicle along with transaction devices as the investigation went on. He was lodged at a juvenile corrections facility.
