From the Desk of Sheriff Abbott – 12/ 5/2025

- Our SWAT Team trained over in Kalamazoo at an abandoned motel that is getting ready to be torn down. They ran numerous training exercises such as room clearing, breaching doors, approaches, stacks, etc.
- Uniform Response handled a Stolen License Plate in Paw Paw Township. It was entered into LEIN as stolen.
- Uniform Response handled a Stolen Cell Camera in Arlington Township. A deer hunters cell cam was stolen from their hunting area.
- Uniform Response handled a PPO (Personal Protection Order) Violation in the City of Gobles. A report is being sent to the Prosecutor for review based on the information given.
- Uniform Response handled a Call in which an Individual was Setting in Traffic in Antwerp Township. The individual was found to have two bench warrants out of Kalamazoo. They were arrested on the warrants.
- Uniform Response handled a Single Vehicle Crash in a Ditch in Antwerp Township. The investigation found that the driver was operating under the influence of alcohol. They were lodged for the incident.
- Uniform Response was busy with Numerous Crashes and Slide-offs.
- Uniform Response received a Tip about a Location of a Wanted Fugitive in Hamilton Township. Deputies observed the wanted individual upon arrival at the residence. Deputies were able to make entry without force as occupants of the residence were cooperative. The suspect was arrested and lodged.
- Our Animal Control Division Partnered up with Pets for Patriots. It’s a program we are now utilizing to show our gratitude to our Veterans and Gold Star Families in our county. This program now allows our local Veterans from WWII to active duty or being a Gold Star Family to be eligible for the benefit.
