From the Desk of Sheriff Abbott – 11/ 21/2025

- Uniform Response handled a Larceny of a Package from a residence in Columbia Township. Anyone with any information on this is asked to call our office.
- Uniform Response handled a Domestic Call that was happening in a vehicle traveling on I94 highway in Hartford Township. Deputies were able to locate the vehicle and get it stopped. After investigating the incident, the driver was found to be intoxicated. It was also discovered that he had a temporary protection order out of New York PD with the victim in the vehicle. He was lodged for operating under the influence of alcohol, open intoxicants in a motor vehicle, no drivers license, and PPO violation.
- Uniform Response handled an E-Bike vs Car Crash. The driver of the E-Bike ran into a vehicle at an intersection after he failed to stop. The driver of the E-Bike was lodged for operating under the influence of alcohol.
- Uniform Response handled a 911 Hang-up Call in Lawrence Township. Upon investigation, no charges were filed for the incident taking place. However, the male half of the situation had 2 warrants for his arrest out of Berrien County. He was lodged on the warrants.
- Uniform Response handled a Bond Violation/Court Conditions in Waverly Township. The suspect who is currently in jail had a third party contact the victim in the domestic assault case that is pending on him. He now faces additional charges.
- Uniform Response handled an Attempted UDAA in Arlington Township. The victim was out hunting, and an unknown suspect stole a part off an interlock device while trying to steal the vehicle. Deputies are actively working the case awaiting pictures from the interlock company of the suspect.
- Uniform Response handled a Civil Property Dispute in the Village of Lawrence. The complaint was about an easement and dirt being moved. Based on the facts, they were advised it’s a civil issue and to take up in civil court if they wanted to go that route.
- With the Holiday Season coming upon us, just a friendly reminder to look out for loved ones and friends. Unfortunately, this time of the year, people at times get severely depressed. There are resources available to help those in need. The last thing we want to see if someone having regrets from a tragic situation because they didn’t want to say anything or get involved.
