NATURE OF INCIDENT: Fleeing and eluding and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine arrest

LOCATION: Red Arrow Hwy near County Road 652, Antwerp Township, Van Buren County

SUSPECT: 58 year old male from Plainwell

NARRATIVE:

Sheriff Daniel Abbott reports that on the above date and approximate time, a deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle for a motor vehicle code violation. The vehicle fled westbound on Red Arrow Highway at speeds around 80mph. The vehicle turned north onto County Road 652 before turning into a subdivision. The vehicle dropped speeds and continued through the subdivision at speeds under 10 mph before returning to County Road 652 and coming to a stop. 

The driver was able to be apprehended without further incident. A search of the driver and vehicle led to the seizure of a large amount of methamphetamine, as well as packaging materials and scales. The driver was subsequently lodged at the Van Buren County Jail on charges of fleeing and eluding, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, driving while license suspended an no insurance on a motor vehicle.
